    Dealer Notes

This 1988 BMW M3 was purchased new by the seller in October 1987 and has been registered in California and Arizona, with a period of ownership by the sellers son. Its inline-four was rebuilt by Dinan Engineering with a 2.5-liter stroker kit, and it is mated to a Getrag five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in Salmon Silver Metallic over Black Bison leather upholstery, the car is further equipped with a sunroof, front and rear spoilers, front sport seats, a factory cassette stereo, cruise control, air conditioning, and an onboard computer. Additional modifications consist of 16 BBS RX wheels, Dinan Stage 1 suspension, a Dinan ECU, an Evo intake system, and a Mishimoto radiator along with front-brake cooling ducts, an M-Technik 2 steering wheel, an Omega brake-temperature gauge, a remote-locking system, and more as detailed below. This E30 M3 shows 198k miles and is now offered with a window sticker, owners and shop manuals, service records, spare wheels and parts, a tool kit, spare keys, a Carfax report, and a clean Arizona title in the sellers name.

BMW produced approximately 5,300 M3s for the North American market between 1987 and 1990, and this example is finished in Salmon Silver Metallic. BMW Evo front grilles and Bosch Euro-style headlights have been added, and additional exterior details include power-adjustable mirrors, an electric sunroof, a rear spoiler, and twin exhaust outlets in addition to wider fenders compared to the standard E30. An August 2016 entry on the Carfax report notes minor damage to the right and right-rear areas of the car, and the right-rear fender was subsequently repaired and repainted.

Silver-finished BBS RX 16 wheels are mounted with 225/45 Dunlop Direzza ZIII tires that have 2023 production-date codes, and a spare on a matching wheel is secured in the trunk. A Stage 1 suspension kit was installed by Dinan, consisting of their dyno-matched lowering springs, larger sway bars, offset front control-arm bushings, and negative-camber front-shock mounts as well as adjustable Koni shocks. The rear sway-bar mounts received welded reinforcements, and front-brake cooling ducts have been routed from the fog-light openings in the front air dam to rotor backing plates. Braided stainless-steel brake lines have been fitted, and the rotors and pads were replaced in March 2024.

The manually adjustable front sport seats, along with the rear bench, were reupholstered in 2016 with Black Bison leather that has M-stripe backrest accents. Red Evo seatbelts and replacement parcel-shelf carpeting were installed at that time, and additional appointments include an onboard computer, a factory AM/FM/cassette stereo, air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows as well as Evo M3-logo doorsill plates, an M-stripe leather shift knob, an M-color-stitched leather parking-brake handle, a Valentine One power outlet, and an aftermarket remote-locking system.

The replacement Alcantara-wrapped M-Technik 2 steering wheel features a red centering stripe, and VDO instrumentation ahead consists of a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil temperature, coolant temperature, and fuel level. An Omega Engineering display for brake-pad temperature is mounted where the fog-light switch used to reside. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 198k miles, all of which were added under current family ownership. The removed fog-light switch will accompany the car.

The S14 inline-four was rebuilt in 1998 at 128k miles at Dinan Engineering, with a 2.5-liter stroker kit that included a replacement crankshaft, bearings, pistons, connecting rods, and baffled oil pan. A custom Dinan-programmed ECU and an Evo intake system with a K&N filter were fitted at that time, and the exhaust manifold was ceramic-coated. The cooling system was overhauled in 2023 with a Mishimoto aluminum radiator and a replacement reservoir and hoses.
